Choosing the material for your swing gate: advantages of wrought iron
There are basically two options for integrating a gate into your fence elements: you can install a sliding gate or a swing gate. Read on to find out why a swing gate is often the better solution.

5 good reasons for a swing gate
- Sliding models open to the side, saving space. However, if there is sufficient space for them to swing open, metal swing gates are a good choice. They offer the following advantages: Sliding models require a concrete foundation for anchoring. Metal swing gates only need posts and are therefore more cost-effective.
- Installing a swing gate is simple and time-saving – especially if posts are already in place.
- You can flexibly implement single, double or triple-leaf gates. With a triple-leaf model, you have an extra passageway for people (wicket door).
- Our fence gates are available in numerous designs, allowing them to blend harmoniously into your fencing system.
- Swing gates are available in a wide range of lengths and heights, from large courtyard gates to narrow garden gates. This allows you to create suitable, uniform passageways for your entire property.

Coating of your choice
Our double swing gates are made of the highest quality wrought iron and remain beautiful and stable even without surface treatment. After some time, the material develops a patina, which in no way detracts from its value – on the contrary, sometimes the natural antique look with its special charm is explicitly desired. A romantic pergola on the driveway, for example, is given a gate that befits its status. If you decide on a coating, you have the following options:
Hot-dip galvanised swing gates
Is optimum weather protection with a discreet appearance important to you? Our hot-dip galvanising offers corrosion protection that often lasts for decades and looks natural. A bath in liquid zinc creates an iron-zinc alloy that seals the gate down to the smallest recesses and cavities. This ensures permanent protection against rust. Initially bright and shiny, hot-dip galvanised swing gates become dark and matt over time. The coating requires no maintenance, withstands minor damage and is environmentally friendly.
POWDER-COATED SWING GATES
Powder coating also provides excellent protection for metal against corrosion and is our customers’ favourite. We use the duplex process to ensure particularly long durability.
In the first step, the double gates receive a cathodic dip coating, a scratch- and weather-resistant coating. This is the ideal base for the powder coating, which we bake on in the second step. The organic, solvent-free powder comes in anthracite (DB 703) as standard and has an elegant sheen. However, we are also happy to use your desired colour for the coating – simply choose your favourite shade from the RAL colour palette.

How many wings should your gate have?
A double swing gate is generally recommended for driveways. Our models open inwards or outwards – please note that the swing range must not extend onto public property. A single-leaf design is sufficient for compact garden gates. They can also be integrated into a double swing gate as a third leaf.
Shape and decorative elements to suit your taste
Our swing gates are available in 19 basic models, which are divided into the categories ‘classic and romantic’ and ‘simple and modern’. This makes it easier for you to make a preliminary selection. The romantic gates are decorated with decorative elements, while the modern versions have a linear look. In our online configurator, you can now simply select the shape for your desired basic model – straight, curved, arched or U-shaped. If you wish, you can also select a matching finial. We offer eight designs, from the cross lily to the pine tree.

A high-quality metal double swing gate is a long-term investment. This makes it all the more important that everything is right with the delivery. Our collection of important questions and answers helps to ensure smooth order processing.
What height and width can I order for swing gates?
As standard, you can order courtyard gates in any width between 160 and 400 centimetres. The height can be selected in the configurator within a range of at least 50 centimetres and a maximum of 200 centimetres. Garden gates are available in widths from 80 to 200 centimetres and heights from 50 to 200 centimetres. For special sizes, we will be happy to check whether we can produce custom-made products for you at an additional cost.
How long is the delivery time for a swing gate?
Once the order has been placed, production takes 12 to 16 weeks, depending on the current order status. You can also choose express production, which takes around six to eight weeks. During the peak season in spring and summer, delivery times may be longer, but we will inform you of this in the quote. Delivery takes place on the desired date in cooperation with our long-standing shipping partners, who are very familiar with our products. Alternatively, you can collect your double gate from our warehouse in Großheirath near Coburg.
Which swing gate goes with which fence?
If you order your fence and gate from us as a single source, the question is easy to answer. Thanks to the uniform model names, the enclosure elements can be combined without any problems. The ‘Ravenna’ fence, for example, has the same design as the ‘Ravenna’ gate. If you already have a fence and only need a new swing gate, let yourself be inspired by the detailed descriptions and photos in our catalogue and online. Can you assist me with measurements and installation?
Of course! ELEO Zaun does not offer these services itself as an on-site service, but we have a large network of partners who can take care of measurement and installation for you if necessary. You are sure to find a suitable specialist company in your area. If you have any general questions about doing the work yourself, our customer service team is available Monday to Friday from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m.

What accessories do I need, and can I order them from you?
If you do not yet have posts, you can order them directly when configuring your steel swing gate. We will calculate the required number for you. Hinges and plates for fastening are included in the scope of delivery, as are the lock and strike plate. Additional accessories such as handle sets and lock cylinders are available as options.
