Our customer service is available Monday to Friday from 8:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. We are happy to assist you with surveying your property. If this assistance is not sufficient, we can also arrange for an installation partner to professionally measure your property.
When placing an order with our company, the costs incurred for the survey will be charged to you and deducted from the order value.
If you have any problems measuring your property, we’ll be happy to help. Our installation partners will come to your home upon request and measure your property according to your requirements.
Note: The costs incurred for a measurement will be invoiced to you initially. If you subsequently place an order with us, we will deduct the costs from the final amount.
If you have a route without posts available, we only need a distance measurement from you. This can be measured using simple tools (e.g., a folding rule or tape measure). The total distance can be determined even more easily using a laser distance meter, which can be purchased at a hardware store for a small additional charge.
We will calculate the required elements and corresponding posts for you below. If you provide a route, you do not need to do your own calculations for posts and spacing, unless you have obstacles to overcome. In such cases, we recommend attaching a suitable sketch to your inquiry or contacting a customer service representative directly.
If you already have masonry or steel posts, we need two pieces of information from you for our calculations:
1 | First, please provide the so-called “clearance” (often also called the clear width or width). To do this, determine the distance between the individual posts, i.e., from one post wall to the other.
2 | Second, the height of your posts is essential so that we can calculate the element heights, taking into account the installation distance from the ground.
Tip: To be absolutely sure when measuring, it is advisable to measure the clearance once at the top and once at the bottom of the post. Existing anchor posts settle slightly over time, so deviations often occur, which can be taken into account in advance.
Providing dimensions often leads to confusion, especially if no posts have been installed yet. The following are the most important points for specifying your measurements:
1 | “Clear width” is not the same as the width of individual fence, gate, and garden elements.
Since our products are attached using slotted and eyebolts, as well as mounting plates, it is important to allow for a mounting clearance. Depending on the product range, product-specific clearances must be deducted from the clear width. For fence and railing elements, the total clearance is 2 cm, for garden gates 6 cm, and for double-leaf gates 12 cm. In our configurator, you will be asked to enter the clear width, i.e., the direct distance between the posts. In your non-binding quote, the distances from the individual elements will be automatically deducted. Both the clear width and the element width are listed in your quote.
2 | Clear width does not describe the total width of a fence.
The clear width describes the distance between two posts. For example, if you are planning a complete length, you need to add the width of the posts and the installation distances to the fence elements. The total width describes the width of the fence, gate, and railing system, including the posts and installation distances.
3 | “Clear width” is the same as “clear width”
The terms “clear width” and “clear width” essentially describe the same information. In our configurator, we ask you to specify the clear width and height of your individual fence, gate, or railing system. With every order, we provide you with a technical drawing after placing your order, which provides you with information about the dimensions of the ordered elements.
The term “clear width,” often also “clear opening,” describes the distance between two posts. The characteristics of the posts, such as the type of post or their width/height, are irrelevant.
Our fence systems can generally be adapted to slopes or inclines. However, the production of such custom designs requires precise measurements, which should include information on the slope or incline in degrees, percent, or centimeters.
If you have a difficult initial situation, please contact our customer service, who will be happy to assist you with your planning. You can reach our staff by email, live chat, or by phone at +49 (0) 9565 / 50 917 0.
You can find a description of how to install our products in our knowledge section. We generally recommend having our fences, gates, and railings installed by a specialized installation company. Depending on your experience, self-installation is certainly possible – however, we cannot guarantee possible damage (e.g., erosion or material fatigue) due to installation errors.
If you are installing your products yourself, we therefore ask you to follow a few basic rules:
1 | Please ensure that you strictly adhere to the specified post spacing required for the installation of our products. A technical drawing providing you with the exact dimensions will be included with the delivery.
2 | Install your posts professionally, i.e., adhering to the specified spacing, horizontal/vertical leveling, and using suitable fastening materials. For posts to be cast in concrete, please observe the drying times for the concrete mixture specified by the respective manufacturer.
3 | Never attach fences, gates, and balcony railings under tension – maintaining the specified post spacing and correctly installing eyebolts, slotted screws, and mounting plates is essential.
4 | Pay attention to the strength of the screws and nuts. Never tighten the screws with brute force – hand-tightening is usually sufficient.
5 | Take your time to review our installation instructions, which are currently available in text format.
If you still have questions after reviewing the instructions, please contact our customer service team via email: customerservice@eleo-fence.co.uk.
Detailed instructions for installing our products can be found at the following link.
If you still have questions after reviewing the instructions, please contact our customer service via email or live chat. We’ll be happy to help!
Some products do not include any mounting hardware for the ordered goods. Of course, we don’t omit this to annoy you. The reason for this omission is simply that the choice of mounting hardware depends heavily on your installation surface and environment.
If you are installing the product yourself, please consult a specialist dealer about the necessary material requirements. The specialist dealer can provide you with important information on selecting suitable mounting hardware (including screws, dowels, washers, threaded rods, etc.).
Depending on the initial situation, different post types are required for the installation of your fence, gate, and railing system. We distinguish between posts (1) for setting in concrete, (2) for screwing on, and (3) for mounting on existing stone or masonry posts. For railings, fastening to the front or bottom is also common.
Each post type requires its own professional installation method, which should always be performed by two people.
In principle, our products can be installed by private individuals. For this reason, we offer some helpful tips for professional final assembly in our assembly section. However, if you are assembling the product yourself, we recommend that you already have some experience with DIY. Serious installation errors can, in the worst case, lead to problems (e.g., corrosion or material fatigue), for which we cannot provide a warranty.
Although we don’t offer our own installation service, we have been able to build excellent relationships with installation partners in the DACH region since the company was founded.
We would be happy to connect you with a suitable tradesman. Please contact us if you need assistance: Send us an email with your request or use our live chat option.
We offer our wrought iron products in three different surface finishes:
In the simplest version, we deliver our products in uncoated pig iron, which develops a weather-related rust patina over time. As a second option, we offer a hot-dip galvanised coating, which, with its silvery surface luster, provides superior corrosion protection. The highest quality option is coating our products with thermosetting powder (powder-coated), which we offer as standard in the color DB 703 with an iron mica effect.
Of course, we are also happy to coat your products in your desired color – powder coating in any RAL color is possible.
A detailed description of the respective coating types and their advantages and disadvantages can be found in our knowledge section under Coatings.
An uncoated surface is valued by customers for its aesthetic appeal. Over time, the surface develops a vibrant rust patina, as the chemical process of oxidation begins when moisture develops. Despite the onset of corrosion, we guarantee the highest level of material stability with this finish.
A hot-dip galvanised finish offers exceptional protection against corrosion (rust formation). Hot-dip galvanising creates an alloy layer on the surface, achieved by immersing the workpiece in a bath of molten zinc (450°C). This surface coating provides lasting protection against corrosion and environmental influences. A zinc coating typically shines brightly when fresh. Over time, however, a natural patina forms on the surface. This makes the workpiece appear somewhat darker and duller than when delivered.
For the powder-coated finish, we use a so-called duplex coating process. This coating process guarantees a lasting seal, achieved using a modern cathodic dip painting (KTL) process. Dip coating offers the ideal conditions for applying coating powder, which effectively protects the surface, ensures an attractive appearance, and guarantees a long service life for the workpiece.
A detailed description of the different coating types and their advantages and disadvantages can be found in our Services section under the subsection “Coatings.”
For untreated workpieces, many customers desire rapid development of the distinctive rust patina, which gives wrought iron products a vibrant surface. Rust is a natural corrosion product that occurs when an iron metal comes into contact with water and, due to the presence of oxygen, triggers the chemical process of oxidation. This process begins over time without any external influence. Even the ever-present humidity inevitably triggers this process – weather influences such as snow, rain, or fog have an intensifying effect on the surface texture.
Note: We certainly understand if you want the patina to develop quickly. However, we advise against artificially and deliberately accelerating the weathering process, as oxidation, despite its visual appeal, is a chemical deterioration process. With a little patience, you will soon enough enjoy the ever-changing patina.
Of course, we are also happy to coat our products in your desired color – powder coating in any RAL color is possible.
We use high-quality steel as the material for our handcrafted wrought iron products. The crossbeams of our products are solid, guaranteeing high stability. The rods are 16 mm hollow tubes with a 1.5 mm wall thickness. If you choose the “hot-dip galvanized” coating, we produce them entirely solid. The diameter of the rods in this case is 12 mm. Upon request, we also manufacture the “powder-coated” and “uncoated” versions in solid form for an additional charge.
It’s difficult to accurately predict the durability of wrought iron products. Depending on the location of the workpiece, environmental conditions vary, affecting the material to varying degrees. We generally offer you the highest possible product quality, with gradual corrosion either desired (patentable rust) or long-term protection against weather-related influences through our coating options (hot-dip galvanized and powder-coated).
Read about the advantages of our coating processes in our knowledge section to gain an insight into the benefits of our finishes!
Iron and steel are often indiscriminately lumped together. Iron is a pure metal, listed as “Fe” (ferrum, Latin for iron) in the periodic table of elements. Steel, on the other hand, is a metallic alloy, i.e., a compound of various metals (including iron, chromium, nickel, silicon, and carbon). Iron makes up the largest proportion in steel—usually between 97 and 99 percent. A key difference between iron and steel lies in the formability of both metals. While cast iron can no longer be formed after hardening and becomes brittle under stress, steel can be further processed and formed depending on the mixing ratio.
Ferrous metals are generally characterized by their functionality and exceptional durability. However, all ferrous metals are susceptible to corrosion when exposed to moisture. While some customers prefer the formation of the typical rust-red patina, others prefer to avoid this corrosion if possible. ELEO therefore offers various types of coatings (e.g. hot-dip galvanizing or powder coating) that protect against corrosion on the material surface.
Workpieces ordered from us in untreated condition will develop traces of corrosion over time. The development of this patina is usually desired by customers. The rusty red patina is known as patina rust and gives your desired model a classic, romantic look.
If you require lasting corrosion protection, we recommend a hot-dip galvanized or powder-coated finish. Both surface finishes will withstand weathering for many decades.
For more information about our surface coatings, see our knowledge section under Coatings.
