What is a juliet balcony?
A French balcony or juliet balcony is a railing that is attached to floor-to-ceiling windows or doors and serves as a fall protection device. As the name suggests, French balcony railings originate from France. There, noble houses once adorned floor-to-ceiling windows with decorative railings so that the nobility could present themselves to the people without running the risk of falling out of the window.
As the railings are attached directly in front of the window, they do not serve the same function as a classic balcony, which can be used as a place to sit and relax. A French balcony – also known as a French window or French balcony grille – serves more of a decorative purpose: it is a stylistic element that adds an attractive accent to the façade of your house.

Juliet balcony: Which railing suits your home?
Every house has its own unique character. To emphasise this character in the best possible way, you should make sure that the juliet balcony you choose matches the appearance of the house façade. For example, an elaborately designed juliet balcony railing with wrought iron decorations and ornaments is a perfect match for old buildings and rustic farmhouses.
