Solid & weather-resistant – metal stair railings for outdoor use
Our solid wrought iron railings combine stability with sophisticated design – ideal for outdoor staircases that are used daily and must withstand wind and weather. You can choose between different styles: from classic and playful to modern and purist. Each model combines quality craftsmanship with an aesthetic design language – and can be perfectly adapted to your home and garden with the surface coating of your choice.
During hot-dip galvanising, each workpiece is immersed in a zinc bath heated to around 450 °C, so that the liquid zinc bonds inseparably with the steel. The result is a seamless, metallic coating that completely protects even hard-to-reach areas from rust. Freshly galvanised, the surface is silvery and partly shiny. Over time, a matt patina forms, which further enhances the protection and blends discreetly into the overall appearance of your outdoor staircase.
Powder coating is the most popular choice among our customers. It impresses with its elegant appearance, maximum corrosion protection and a pleasant velvety matt feel. The surface is treated using the proven duplex process, in which several protective layers are perfectly matched to each other. We offer anthracite with an iron mica effect as standard, as well as the special colours deep black, anthracite grey, moss green and fir green. However, you can also design your metal stair railing for outdoor use in your desired colour – to match your personal style and your home.

Safety standards for outdoor stairs – what you should bear in mind
In Germany, DIN standards and state building regulations govern how outdoor stair railings must be constructed in order to provide effective protection against falls. The recommended minimum height is generally 90 cm, or 110 cm for fall heights above 12 metres. The spacing between the vertical bars is also strictly defined and may not exceed 12 cm in most cases – an important safety feature, especially for families with children. The type of fastening, the railing height and design details such as decorative elements or surface coatings also have a noticeable impact on the overall price. For custom-made metal railings with high-quality surface treatments, the starting price is usually between £300 and £400, depending on the supplier and scope of services. However, if you value quality, durability and a tailor-made solution, you should not only consider the pure material price when planning, but also take into account installation options, maintenance-free operation and design flexibility.
Which material is best suited for an outdoor stair railing?
Various materials can be used for outdoor stair railings, which differ in appearance, durability and maintenance requirements. Aluminium is very light and low-maintenance, but less stable, while wood has a warm and natural look, but requires regular protection from the weather.
